THUNDER BAY -- Aboriginal women are sharing ideas on how to tackle the boys club that is the business world.

The fourth annual Aboriginal Women’s Business conference was held in Thunder Bay this week, to talk about their unique challenges.

The room was filled with aboriginal women from across the country and they all came for one purpose to share advice and learn from those who have experienced the grueling world of business and the challenges it brings.

Founder of Satya Organics Patrice Mousseau said it was a gathering like this one that gave her the confidence to pursue her business even without a business degree. And now, she hopes to pay it forward.

“Always trust your gut,” Mousseau said. “Your gut probably knows a lot better than your head does and your heart will lead you forward in making the right decisions.”

Mousseau added that even if the decision doesn’t seem to be the best business choice, you can make the choice that’s true to you.

Event organizer Stella Bearskin said people have to create opportunities, they can’t wait for opportunities to come to them.

“I think that’s why being a social entrepreneur or being an entrepreneur is very important for everybody,” Bearskin said.

“Believe in yourself and you’ll have a lot of people believe in you once you get started.”

This networking event takes place annually in Canada and organizers say registration continues to rise year after year.
