THUNDER BAY – Two people are in custody after city police seized 11.4 pounds of marijuana after investigating a suspicious package.

Police say a 24-year-old from Fort Erie, Ont. and a 25-year-old from Thunder Bay have been arrested and remain in custody following the bust, which occurred on Monday.

One of the suspects faces possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with a condition of his recognizance.

The Thunder Bay suspect was charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Both appeared in court on Tuesday and were remanded into custody.

Police, who did not state where the drugs were recovered, say the street value of the marijuana is an estimated $51,900.

Correction: The story originally indicated the weight of the marijuana was in kilograms.
