THUNDER BAY – A 37-year-old woman has been charged in conjunction with a taxi driver.

Thunder Bay Police, in a release issued on Monday, say the suspect was picked up at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday from an undisclosed Dawson Road location and was taken to a Red River Road location, where she attempted to leave without paying for the cab ride.

After a brief argument, the suspect allegedly began assaulting the 56-year-old male driver, who managed to radio for help.

Both police and another taxi driver arrived to intervene and the woman was quickly taken into custody.

The suspect has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and transportation fraud.

She was released and will appear in court at a future date.
