Employees of Canada Malting on the Thunder Bay waterfront have ratified a new collective agreement with the company. Their union, UFCW Local 1075, says the workers at the Maureen Street facility will receive wage increases of $2.

THUNDER BAY -- Employees of Canada Malting on the Thunder Bay waterfront have ratified a new collective agreement with the company.

Their union, UFCW Local 1075, says the workers at the Maureen Street facility will receive wage increases of $2.03 an hour over the three-year term.

A news release from the union did not indicate what that will take the hourly rate to.

It said the contract includes other monetary improvements as well.

In addition, the collective agreement contains "new language that establishes zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, bullying and victimization in the workplace."

Canada Malting is the largest malt company in Canada, producing over 400,000 metric tonnes of malt per year for breweries and distilleries around the world.
