OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the border between Canada and the United States will remain closed for an additional month.

The prime minister this week announced the closure of the land border to non-essential travel will be extended through April 21.

"We’ll continue to do whatever is necessary to keep you and your loved ones safe," Trudeau said in a post to his official Twitter account.

The border has been closed to non-essential travelers since last March. Anyone entering Canada, with limited exceptions, must quarantine for 14 days.
