Adam Capay is brought into the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6, 2012.

THUNDER BAY - The trial of Adam Capay has been delayed again to allow more time for the completion of a psychiatric assessment.

Following a status hearing on Capay’s most recent psychiatric evaluation on Tuesday, Justice Danial Newton has postponed the trial, originally scheduled for March 20, 2017 in order to allow more time for the evaluation to be completed.

Capay, who is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with the murder of 35-year-old Sherman Quisses, has been behind bars for the last five years.

In 2015, Capay underwent a psychiatric evaluation to determine if he was mentally fit to stand trial.

Capay, now 24-years-old, has spent the last four years in solitary confinement at the Thunder Bay District Jail.

In November, 2016, Capay’s attorney requested his client undergo a new psychiatric evaluation to determine if he is fit to stand trial. A new trial date has not been set but a case management conference will be held on Feb. 22.
