THUNDER BAY -- A scare for residents of a condominium on the city's waterfront Friday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the scene around noon when a CO detector in one of the building units went off.
An inspection determined there was an unsafe amount of carbon monoxide in the residence and the building was evacuated as a precaution.
Occupants were directed to an adjacent condominium building to keep warm.
Fire crews remained on the scene until late Friday afternoon as did crews from Union Gas who were trying to detect the cause of the leak.
According to Platoon Chief Bruce Kajorinne, it’s believed the problem was the result of a malfunctioning heating unit.
