A new event aimed at inspiring Aboriginal students was held in Thunder Bay Wednesday.

About 360 high school students from around the region attended the Blueprint for the Future Career Fair. The National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation hosted the event, which showcased employees of various industries the students can look up to.

Foundation president and CEO Roberta Jamieson said they're trying to encourage young Aboriginals to stay in school and to make big plans for their future.

She added that these young people are the answer to Canada's looming labour shortage.

This is the first time this event has been held in Thunder Bay and Jamieson says it won't be the last.
