A man charged with murder had his case adjourned until next month.
Kesley Lance Charles Jacob, 33, of Summer Beaver First Nation is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 53-year-old Barney Beaver of Webequie First Nation.
Beaver was taken to hospital Dec. 17 after an alleged assault at the Victoria Inn.
He passed away Dec. 24.
Jacob was originally charged with aggravated assault after the incident but the charge was later changed to second-degree murder.
He appeared in the Ontario Court in Thunder Bay Thursday morning represented by George Joseph.
Police couldn’t say much about the case when the murder charge was laid. Criminal Investigation Branch Staff Sgt. Don Lewis said the two men knew each other and that alcohol was a factor.
Jacobs will appear in court again Feb.2.
