THUNDER BAY – Grade 9 students at Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board high schools will not be taking the standardized EQAO math test on Monday as planned.

On Friday the board announced that because of job actions planned by member of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association, the tests cannot be administered at their regularly scheduled time.

“The labour sanctions limit the implementation and administration of the test. Teachers will continue to work through the completion of the Grade 9 Mathematics curriculum as Semester 1 comes to an end,” said a statement issued by the board.

“In a statement issued on January 8, the minister of education said that students who do not take the EQAO Grade 9 Math Assessment in January will need to take the test in June. The board will await further direction from the ministry.”

Lakehead Public Schools announced on Thursday it had cancelled Monday’s scheduled tests at its three high schools.
