A groundbreaking ceremony has been scheduled for Thursday to mark the start of construction of Phase 2 of the city's Centre of Excellence for Integrated Seniors Services.
This phase of the Lillie Street project will see construction of a 416-bed senior's care facility .
The contract for the project has been awarded to Bonfield Construction of Vaughan, Ont., with construction costs pegged at $67-million.
The beds at the CEISS facility will replace those currently provided by the Grandview, Dawson Court and Bethammi nursing homes.
It is expected the project will take two to two-and-a-half years to complete.
