Fort William Historical Park celebrated Canada Day with a bang.
Actually, it was more of a boom as cannon and musket fire echoed off of the Kaministiquia River to celebrate the country’s 146 th birthday Saturday. Along with traditional dancing and a great arrival by canoe, the fort had children’s activities, a petting zoo and, of course, a giant cake to help hundreds on hand get into the Canada Day spirit.
Rose and Ken McGratten said they came to the park to spend time with friends.
“That and get out of house work,” Ken McGratten said with a smile, a small Canadian flag stikcign out of his hat.
“Just to be thankful that we live in this great country and just to celebrate it and to be with the people and have a good time.”
“I just love our country and I love being on the shore of the Kaministiquia and Lake Superior so it’s wonderful to get out in this setting and just enjoy being a community together,” Rose McGratten said.
