Police laid charges in connection with a fatal collision back in the spring involving a pedestrian and a transport truck along the Thunder Bay Expressway.
The incident took place March 1 at the John Street intersection. Katherine Chezick, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The competitive runner was training to compete in an IronMan triathlon when the incident occurred. OPP Staff Sgt. Dan Peters said they believe there was some human error on the part of the victim in the incident.
But following a nearly six-month long investigation by their technical collision investigators, he said there was also enough evidence to lay a charge against the transport driver.
The 45-year-old Red Rock man is charged with failing to stop for an amber light.
The fatal incident has prompted local politicians to call for advanced warning lights and countdown signals for pedestrians along the expressway.
