Charges laid following drug trafficking investigation

One man is in custody following a NAPS investigation into drug trafficking.

EABAMETOONG FIRST NATION – A drug trafficking investigation in Eabametoong First Nation has led to charges for one man.

According to Nishnawbe Aski Police release, officers conducted an investigation of drug trafficking on Wednesday.

As a result, police seized about 60 grams of suspected cocaine.

Mathew Slipperjack of Eabametoong First Nation was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.

He remains in custody and will appear in bail court on Thursday.

Eabametoong First Nation is located approximately 385 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay.
