Chemainus, B.C. man charged with drug offences

KENORA, Ont. – A British Columbia man is facing three drug-related charges after being pulled over on Highway 17A near Haycock Township.

OPP, in a release issued on Thursday, said the driver of a pick-up truck was stopped for a Highway traffic Act violation and upon further investigation police seized a large amount of cash, about 12 pounds of marijuana and two pounds of hashish and hashish oil.

They also allegedly found drug paraphernalia.

Police estimated the value of the drugs at about $62,000.

James Sagriff, 35, of Chemainus, B.C. was charged with possession of a Schedule II substance over three kilograms for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a Schedule II substance under three kilograms for the purpose of trafficking, and trafficking a Schedule II substance, cannabis marijuana, over three kilograms.

He was also charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Friday to answer the charges.
