THUNDER BAY -- Children’s Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay Releases Provincial Evaluation Documents for 2016.

The Children’s Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay is pleased to release the results of the Crown Ward and Foster Care Licensing reviews, undertaken by the province of Ontario in late 2016.

The results, which are available on the Society’s website, show an overall high rate of compliance with established provincial guidelines.

“This field is constantly evolving, and it is extremely important that we regularly reevaluate the services we provide,” says Wanda MacArthur, Director of Children and Residential Services at CAS.

Brad Bain, the Society’s Executive Director, adds: “The strong 2016 results reflect the hard work and commitment of our staff, foster, kinship providers and volunteers and we are very proud to present them to the community.”

The province’s evaluation process involved extensive reviews of case documents, adherence to standards, and interviews with service recipients.

Based on the findings, the Society then submits a Quality Improvement Plan to the Ministry of Children & Youth Services.

“These reviews are an important tool to gather feedback on the work the Society is doing,” says Board President Don Kerr. “It’s wonderful to see them returning a consistently positive result, and this reflects very well on the hard work of the staff.”

The Children’s Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay delivers a range of responsive individual, family and community programs to children and families in Northern Ontario.
