WINNIPEG -- Apparently lightning does strike twice.

The Thunder Bay Chill's 2023 season debut was delayed by lightning strikes in the Winnipeg area, and the team's offence took most of the game to get going, but a 90th minute goal by striker Brandon Bermingham was enough to earn the Chill a 1-1 draw Saturday night with host FC Manitoba.

Ethan Cabral gave the home side the lead just before halftime, scoring in the 42nd minute for an early 1-0 FC Manitoba advantage.

The Chill return home to Chapples Field next Friday for their home opener against Rochester FC. Game time is 7 p.m.
