THUNDER BAY – While Christmas decorations are being put away, many families are left wondering where they can dispose of the tree.
Officials with the city's landfill and recycling division are reminding Thunder Bay residents there is still another week to use their Christmas tree disposal program.
Nine depots have been set up around the city, including five on the North Side and four on the South Side.
Residents are asked to remove all decorations and non-biodegradable material before dropping the trees off at the collection sites and not to use the sites for the disposal of other household items.
Residents are also asked not to leave trees out for curbside collection.
The trees will the chipped and brought to the city landfill.
The last day for dropping off trees is Jan. 11.
