For those that have yet to dispose of their natural Christmas tree, there are still a couple of days left to drop it off at one of Thunder Bay's tree chipping drop-off locations.
Trees can be dropped off at eight collection sites throughout the city until Sunday. From there, the trees are collected and transported to the city landfill where they're ground into compost. City Solid Waste and Recycling Coordinator Jason Sherband said despite the growing popularity of artificial trees, they aren't seeing any decrease in natural trees at the drop-off locations from years past.
Sherband reminds residents that trees will not be collected with curbside garbage. All tinsel and ornaments must be removed before trees are dropped off for chipping.
