THUNDER BAY – Whether you take down your tree the moment Christmas is over, or keep it up as long as possible, the City of Thunder Bay is offering drop-off locations across the city to ensure the trees are composted.

Between now and Jan. 12, trees can be left at one of nine drop-off locations across the city. They will be chipped and added to the city’s compost program, which provides compost to residents each spring.

The city asks that all ornaments and tinsel be removed from the trees prior to drop-off. Trees cannot be left at recycling depots or put out for curbside collection.

Residents can find the location closest to them, as well as other information on the program, at the city’s website.
