THUNDER BAY — After a delay of about a week, the City of Thunder Bay says bike lanes are now officially reopened for the season.
They usually open around May 1, after city road crews have finished sweeping sand and debris that accumulated over the winter.
But a prolonged period of cold, wet weather delayed that process.
Reopening the bike lanes means that on-street parking restrictions affecting designated bike lanes will now be enforced.
The city issued a statement reminding drivers not to obstruct bike lanes with their vehicles.
Thunder Bay has over 42 kilometres of bike lanes and shared lanes, plus more than 56 kilometres of multi-use trails.
