THUNDER BAY — The City of Thunder Bay is kicking off a new community storytelling campaign on Thursday under the prompt “what makes Thunder Bay great.”
Individuals and groups of all ages to encouraged to submit short written reflections about what they love about the city today and what gives it potential for the future.
“We know Thunder Bay has incredible stories of pride and possibility,” said city manager John Collin, in a news release.
“This campaign is about capturing those stories and celebrating the spirit of our community as we plan for Smart Growth and a strong future.”
The initiative is part of the city’s broader Smart Growth engagement strategy, which aims to shape a thriving and sustainable future for Thunder Bay.
To participate in the campaign, residents must submit a short written piece of up to 250 words online, by email or in person at city hall.
These entries will be entered into a random prize draw, awarding prizes in three age categories: children and youth aged 17 or under, young adults and students aged 18 to 25 and adults aged 26 and up.
A parent or guardian must submit from minors for entries in the first category.
The grand prize winner will have their full submission featured in the Smart Growth Action Plan and receive an ultimate city prize pack, including local experiences and city program passes.
These submissions will also have the chance to be featured online and in future community promotions.
The submission deadline for the campaign is June 1.
