City begins annual United Way fundraiser

City of Thunder Bay employees have set an ambitious target for their 2010 United Way campaign contributions. The 15th annual fundraiser kicked off Thursday with lunch at the CLE Heritage building.
City of Thunder Bay employees have set an ambitious target for their 2010 United Way campaign contributions.

The 15th annual fundraiser kicked off Thursday with lunch at the CLE Heritage building. The city employees, along with workers at the District Social Services Administrative Board and Superior North EMS are pledging to raise $167,000 over the next two months for the United Way.

Donations will be collected through payroll deduction and various events. Since the campaign started, city employees have raised more than $1.2-million.

More than 1,000 employees are signed to donate money.

The United Way’s annual fundraising campaign wraps up on Dec. 9.
