City burning ban lifted

A burning ban placed on the City of Thunder Bay will be lifted as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, the Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue announced. Open burning will be allowed between Jan. 1 and May 31 and between Oct.1 and Dec. 31 for people with the proper permits.

Open burning will be allowed between Jan. 1 and May 31 and between Oct.1 and Dec. 31 for people with the proper permits. Open burning will only be allowed two hours before sunset, and fires must be extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise.

Recreational burning is allowed from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Fire and Rescue is reminding residents that the proper permits must be purchased and can be applied for at any Thunder Bay fire station.
