City bus strikes Hydro pole after morning hit-and-run

The driver of a pickup truck who is being blamed for causing a crash involving a city bus fled the scene Tuesday morning, police say.

THUNDER BAY -- A city bus veered off the road Tuesday morning and struck a hydro pole.

Traffic was brought to a halt near the corner of Camelot and Cumberland Streets after a city bus swerved into a hydro pole causing it to fall against the bus.

A media release later issued by the Thunder Bay Police Service blamed the crash on the driver of a black Dodge truck who blew a red light while travelling north on Cumberland Street.

The truck collided with the city transit bus, which headed west along Camelot Street.

Police said the truck fled the scene and was located on Van Norman Street abandoned.

A lone male occupant was seen running from the truck towards Cook Street.

If anyone has any information regarding this collision contract the Thunder Bay Police-Traffic Unit.
