THUNDER BAY - Those wishing to have their say in the upcoming 2021 city budget process will be doing so a little differently this year.

Pre-budget deputations can be given in four ways, including by video conference, by telephone, through the City Hall lobby kiosk, or sending a letter to the city clerk’s to be included in the public agenda for city council.

Deputations will take place during budget deliberations meetings scheduled for Jan. 14 and Feb. 4 starting at 6:30 p.m. The meetings will be held virtually and all deputations must scheduled in advance.

For the Jan. 14 meeting, deputation requests must be received no later than noon on Jan. 11 and for the Feb. 4 meeting requests must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 29.

Requests can be made by emailing [email protected] or completing an online form on the city’s website.

Members of the public can also complete an online survey between Jan. 5 and Feb. 4. Hard copy feedback can be submitted through the Budget Community Handbook available on the city’s website, at the Waverley and Brodie Street branches of the Thunder Bay Public Library upon reopening, and from City Hall by appointment.

Council’s Budget reviews will take place on Jan. 19, 21, 27, and Feb. 2, beginning at 5 p.m., with approval expected on Feb. 8.
