A member of Thunder Bay city council is about to have a lot more time to dedicate to his career as a public servant.

Paul Pugh is celebrating retirement from his day job Friday evening. The McKeller Ward Councillor has spent 25 years at the local Bombardier plant. And he's the longest-serving president of Canadian Auto Workers local 1075, a post he held for the past 12 years. Pugh said after struggling through some tough times, he's proud to have been part of Bombardier's turnaround. He now looks forward to committing more effort to his duties as councillor.

Pugh is planning on celebrating his retirement with a short trip to Uruguay, which is where he grew up. He's been replaced as CAW President by Dominic Pasqualino.
