The union representing local firefighters and the city have reached a settlement for an interim wage increase.
The City of Thunder Bay announced Friday afternoon that the settlement had been reached, but released few other details. The settlement will be presented to city council for ratification at the Dec. 7 meeting.
The City of Thunder Bay and the Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighters Association agreed on an increase for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
City officials state in a news release issued Friday that the wage increase is similar to what was negotiated with other city bargaining groups.
The firefighters have been without a wage increase since 2007.
The arbitration hearing was held in July 2009, but an award is still pending.
