City hold special safety awards ceremony at city hall

Two people and four groups were honoured with the mayor’s third annual Community Safety Award Monday night. The 2013 awards were presented at city hall during the regular scheduled council meeting.

The 2013 awards were presented at city hall during the regular scheduled council meeting. The awards recognize the people and organizations that helped make the community a safer place.

“Congratulations to each of this year’s recipients,” said Mayor Keith Hobbs. “You are all doing truly amazing work to make the City a better place for everyone. I sincerely hope others will look to you as examples, and be inspired to make their own contributions to crime prevention in Thunder Bay.”

Recipients are:

  • Community Hero Award – Derek Khani
  • Young Leader Award – Allison Lamb
  • Outstanding Community Project Award – Roots to Harvest
  • Outstanding Community Project Award – Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin Program (I am a Kind Man)
  • Outstanding Community Project Award – We Stand Up!
  • Outstanding Community Project Award – Pride Central
