THUNDER BAY – The city is holding a public information session concerning the emerald ash borer, the first such meeting to be held since the invasive bug was discovered here.
According to officials with the City of Thunder Bay, the emerald ash borer was detected in this region in June of this year.
The invasive insect is responsible for killing millions of ash trees in North America.
The public meeting is being held on Tuesday, July 19 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Oliver Road Community Centre, 563 Oliver Road.
This will be the first of two public information sessions that will be hosted to continue to raise awareness about this invasive pest. A second meeting will be held on July 20 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Each session will include a presentation by the Invasive Species Centre and Ontario Invasive Plant Council followed by a discussion period.
