City lets public have say in summer Movie Nights in the Park flicks

The city wants the public to have a say in the cinematic masterpieces they show at this summer’s Movie Nights in the Park. OK, so neither Citizen Cane, Gone With the Wind nor 12 Years a Slave made the final cut.

The city wants the public to have a say in the cinematic masterpieces they show at this summer’s Movie Nights in the Park.

OK, so neither Citizen Cane, Gone With the Wind nor 12 Years a Slave made the final cut. But there is a little something for everyone.

The city has set up an online web page (thunderbay.ca/movienightsvoting.) for the public to vote and is asking moviegoers to choose their three favourites as they attempt to finalize this year’s line-up.

The full list of possible films includes:

  • Thor: The Dark World
  • Non-Stop
  • Divergent
  • Skyfall
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
  • Ghostbusters
  • Hook
  • Mars Attacks!
  • The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
  • Spaceballs
  • Back to the Future III
  • Groundhog Day

Voters are also encouraged to include a write-in vote (umm, Star Wars please), movies not on the city’s list.
The final line-up will be announced in May.

The first Movie Night in the Park is scheduled for May 16.
