The City of Thunder Bay has put out a call to artists to design a new Arts and Heritage Award.

THUNDER BAY — The City of Thunder Bay is issuing a call for artistic designs for a new award.

The 2025 Arts and Heritage Awards will be presented in the fall, and the city is seeking artists to submit their concepts for the design of a three-dimensional award that will be presented to award recipients.

“The Thunder Bay Arts and Heritage Awards have been a key part of recognizing the leaders of Thunder Bay’s arts, culture and heritage scene for many years,” said the city's cultural development and public art coordinator Caitlyn McMillan in a news release.

“As well as celebrating these achievements, we are supporting our incredible local talent to create this symbol of recognition.”

The awards will celebrate local individuals, groups, and businesses involved with arts and heritage.

The categories will represent a wide spectrum of Thunder Bay's cultural sector, including music, film, stage performance, literature, visual arts, photography, heritage, cultural organizations, venues, events, volunteers, and supporters.

The deadline for submissions is July 21 at noon and is open to artists and artistic teams in Thunder Bay and the surrounding area.

The gala event will take place at Magnus Theatre on Oct. 23.

More information, including how to make a submission, can be found online
