THUNDER BAY — A local resident faces multiple charges after incidents involving weapons at two different hotels this week.

Thunder Bay Police responded Monday night to a business in the 500 block of Harbour Expressway following reports of a robbery.

A man had entered the business brandishing a weapon, and had threatened a staff member before escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On Tuesday night, police were called to the 0-100 block of Cumberland Street North where a man had also threatened a staff member with a weapon before fleeing the scene.

After the TBPS Break, Enter and Robbery Unit became involved in the investigation, it determined the same individual was involved in the two incidents.

A 41-year-old suspect was subsequently identified, and charged with two counts of robbery with violence, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting a peace officer.

The accused is also charged with six counts of failure to comply with a release order.

He was remanded into custody Thursday with a date for his next appearance in court.
