THUNDER BAY — The wait is over for parents and caregivers when signing their kids up for city-run summer camps.

As of Monday at 8:30 a.m., registration will open for city-run camps including Chippewa Summer Camp, KidVentures and Adventurers Camp.

Information on what camps will be available, cost and locations will be located in the city's summer edition of The Key, which is expected to be released on Friday.

Since the closing of the Canada Games Complex will be in effect as of June 4, there has been little information available to families on where the Adventurers camp will be hosted.

City officials said the Adventurers Camp will be hosted at the former Agnew H. Johnston Public School, which closed to students and teachers in 2020. Afternoon swimming for camp goers will be taking place across the street at Sir Winston Churchill Community Pool. The number of campers allowed to register this year will remain the same as in previous summers.

Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly identified the start of registration for the summer programs.
