THUNDER BAY — Starting Wednesday, residents of the Wasco Drive area will lose the use of their neighbourhood parkette until sometime in June.

The City of Thunder Bay said the Wasco Parkette will be closed on May 29.

It said the existing playground equipment has come to the end of its life, and must be removed.

New structures, including more inclusive and accessible components, will be installed in the coming weeks.

A new seating area will also be established.

During the construction period, the majority of the park area will be fenced off.

The city said the nearest alternative recreation areas are Timberland Park, at the end of Timberline Drive, and Valley Park on Valley Street.
