THUNDER BAY -- Some of the city's police officers received a Certificate of Commendation for their heroism more than five years ago.
Acting Sgt. John Sobolta, const. Kerry Dunning, Clark McKever, Jeff Elvish and Sgt. Dave Tinnes were recognized Tuesday for their bravery in 2011 when they played a crucial role in assisting individuals out of a smoke filled building.
Two of the officers were on hand Tuesday morning at the Thunder Bay Services Board meeting to receive the board's recognition for this important commendation.
The board congratulated all five officers for their selfless act during the dangerous situation.
