THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay is almost ready to hit the national stage this weekend.
The city will host the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour with events kicking off at noon on Saturday before the big live broadcast Sunday night.
Prince Arthur's Landing will have skating, a ton of family activities and performances from local musicians Poor Young Things and Coleman Hell.
"Thunder Bay is a very hockey proud town and we have a lot of reasons to be hockey proud," city events supervisor Kelly Rooney said.
"We have a great musical history in this town and having those musical acts back in Thunder Bay is great."
Rooney expects up to 10,000 people each day for the events, which includes fireworks Saturday night. Parking will be very limited so she's encouraging people to park in the downtown North core and walk over to the marina.
Rooney said the tour will be a great way to show the rest of Canada what Thunder Bay is all about.
"We might be cold but we know how to have a good time," she said.
The city is still looking for volunteers. Anyone interested can email Rooney. [email protected]
