The city is lowering its adoption fees for cats to $50.

The two-week campaign begins on Friday.

“Senior cats, while mature and well-socialized, are often overlooked by adopters because of their age,” said Jody Kondrat, manager of Thunder Bay’s animal services department.

“Older cats are great for first-time pet owners or people who do not have the time or energy to deal with frisky kittens. When well cared for, senior cats can be a source of love and companionship for many years to come.”

Adoption fees include spaying or neutering, vaccinations, micro-chipping, de-worming, parasite treatment, six weeks of complimentary pet insurance and a starter kit with food, toys and treats.
