Thunder Bay's taxi and limo bylaws are being put under a microscope.

For the first time since the mid-‘90s the city is doing a review of its policies. Licensing and Enforcement Manager Ron Bourret said a third party will look at things like safety, accessibility, and the number of cabs on the road.

“Hopefully the people coming in to do the review will be looking at the population factor,” Bourret told CKPR Radio. “It has changed. A lot of people say ‘it hasn’t change’ but it has and the whole dynamics of responsibility has changed as well.”

He added that the consultation with the public, as well as cab and limo companies will be part of the process.

A final report will go to the Police Services board.
