THUNDER BAY – Gas stations in Thunder Bay have smashed the previous record price for a litre of unleaded fuel in the city.
At least seven stations in the city have increased their price for regular unleaded to $1.549 a litre, six cents above the previous record of $1.489, set in 2008.
Two other stations on Monday increased their price to $1.499.
The lowest price for regular unleaded in the area is the K&A Variety and Gas Bar on Fort William First Nation, which is charging $1.236 per litre.
Stations along the North Shore, including Marathon and Terrace Bay, are charging as much as $1.599 per litre, the highest price in the province.
The Ontario average, which is on the rise, is $1.363 per litre, according to GasBuddy.com.
