The city is still waiting to hear back from the federal government on its plans for a proposed event centre.

City administration, approved by city council, sent an application to the federal government’s Build Canada fund at the end of June.

That $1.25 billion fund would get the federal government to help build a detailed business case for the centre.

While the city expected to hear back from the federal government at the end of last month, there has been no word city manager Tim Commisso said.

“We’ve done what we can but we respect the fact that they probably have a lot of applications so maybe they just need more time,” he said.

But other than that, Commisso didn’t want to speculate on the delay.
