THUNDER BAY - Thunder Bay is celebrating Canada Water Week with a free, educational event at Prince Arthur’s Landing on Sunday afternoon.
This event is hosted by EarthCare Thunder Bay, coordinated by Let’s Talk Science, Confederation College, and in collaboration with numerous other community partners. The family-focused event runs from noon to 4 pm on Sunday, March 25, in the Baggage Building Arts Centre at Prince Arthur’s Landing. The day’s excitement will feature educational activities and hands-on displays centered on water and its importance to our community. Children will be invited to challenge their detective skills with indoor scavenger hunt, learn about rain gardens, test their water conservation knowledge, learn about aquatic bugs and reptiles, and take part in water themed crafts and face painting.
“This year’s Canada Water Week theme is water in nature,” said Kasey Maitland, Coordinator of Let’s Talk Science. “This event is a wonderful opportunity for residents of all ages to explore nature-based solutions to overcome water challenges of the 21st century. The event will also focus on how we can protect water and the Great Lakes using green infrastructure strategies.”
The event wraps up Canada Water Week in Thunder Bay, marked each year during the third week of March. The national celebration coincides with World Water Day, which is observed annually on March 22.
