THUNDER BAY – A prominent sign at Prince Arthur’s Landing has caught the attention of social media.

The sign, which is located near the festival area on Bobby Curtola Drive, celebrates the completion of the splash pad, Spirit Garden and other accomplishments at the waterfront park.

However, the sign credits the work to “the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario and the Citizens of Thunder of Bay.”

For the record, "Thunder of Bay" was not an option on the 1970 ballot that determined the name of the city.

The typo was recently discovered and pointed out on Facebook and Twitter, generating a large amount of laughter and mocking.

Officials with city’s corporate communications division, which produced the sign, say the error will be fixed on Monday.
