THUNDER BAY – A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Thunder Bay.

According to Environment Canada, the storms could bring strong wind gusts, up to 90 kilometres an hour, large hail the size of a toonie and heavy rainfall.

The government weather agency said the public should be prepared for utility outages, with damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters possible.

The storms are expected to begin on Sunday afternoon and last through the evening hours.
