THUNDER BAY -- A walkability study in Thunder Bay found the majority of collisions between vehicles and pedestrians occur in the McKellar Ward.

Lakehead University's Lindsay Galway says between 2003 and 2013, more than 260 auto-pedestrian collisions occurred in McKellar Ward, one of the worst spots being the intersection of Algoma and Bay streets.

“About 45 per cent of the collisions occurred in McKellar Ward and this is where our two downtown cores are located,” Galway said.

Galway added the hot spots tend to be located along image routes and at intersections.
