THUNDER BAY -- A broken water pipe has caused problems at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition.

A restoration company is on the scene doing cleanup work after a pipe ruptured, possibly because of the cold weather,  Sunday.

A city official notified the CLE about the break after a bystander saw water pouring out on the Northern Avenue side of the CLE Coliseum.

When CLE staff arrived they found ankle-deep water in the Cardinal Room, and water also reached the Coliseum hall area.

Work is underway on drying out carpets and repairing water damage to the walls, but day-to-day operations at the CLE are continuing.

It's the third weather-related incident on the CLE grounds in the last few weeks.

Last month, snow and wind caused the collapse of the Sports Dome.

Repairs are still being done to the roof over the entrance of SilverCity Thunder Bay Cinemas, which also recently suffered weather-related damage.
