THUNDER BAY -- A CN Rail spokesperson is confirming that company officials will attend a meeting next week to review the James Street Swing Bridge situation.

That meeting was requested by Mayor Keith Hobbs and Fort William First Nation Chief Georjann Morriseau following a consultant’s report on the bridge last week.

The report says damage to the aging structure from a fire last October is too extensive to allow the span to be re-opend to vehicular traffic.

Mayor Hobbs maintains the railway’s contract with the city clearly shows that neccessary repairs must be completed.

The date for next week's meeting has not yet been determined.
