Coin thieves targeting apartment building laundry rooms

City police are investigating a series of vandalism incidents involving apartment building laundry rooms. Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say in some cases the coin boxes in the washers and dryers were pried open and coins were stolen.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say in some cases the coin boxes in the washers and dryers were pried open and coins were stolen.

Similar incidents have been taking place in various parts of the city for the past few months and police believe they are connected.

Incidents from this week were reported at the following locations:

  • 1800 block of East Walsh Street
  • 900 block of South Syndicate Avenue
  • 600 block of Kingsway Avenue
  • 2800 block of Redwood Avenue
  • 200 block of Banning Street

Police say some of the targeted apartment complexes are secured buildings and there appears to be no forced entry into the building.

Tenants in similar type facilities are reminded to be conscious not letting in any unknown persons.
