THUNDER BAY – An extreme cold-weather warning continues to remain in effect for the city of Thunder Bay.
According to Environment Canada, a multi-day episode of very cold wind chills is expected, with values on Sunday dipping as low as -45 C.
Similar conditions are expected to continue into Monday.
The weather service reminds the public that risks are greater for younger children, older adults, people with chronic conditions and those without proper shelter.
They suggest dressing in layers and caution that frostbite can develop in minutes on exposed skin. They also says if it's too cold for people to stay outside, it's too cold for pets to stay outside.
Monday's high is forecast to be -18 C, though the mercury is expected to shoot up to -13 C on Tuesday and -10 C on Wednesday.
The deep freeze is expected to be over by next weekend. Saturday's high is forecast to be -4 C.
