Collision causes rural power outage

Over 730 customers were affected south of Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY — A late-night motor vehicle collision caused a power outage affecting hundreds of Hydro One customers in a broad area south of Thunder Bay. 

Details of the collision were not immediately available, but the utility said the outage affected customers in Oliver Paipoonge and in the townships of Blake, Crooks and Pardee.

More than 730 customers were off the grid overnight.

Hydro One said the outage started at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, and estimated that power would be fully restored by noon on Wednesday.
